Who is this man? This question will be answered. as we examine the life of the man who will become Sojourner. A young man was born on a farm in Ohio in 1855, and given the name Charles David Colwell. He disliked the name, so he shortened it to CD. He grew up with many brothers and sisters. In 1862 his father joined the Union Army, and was killed the following year. His widowed mother married a neighbor and the family moved west, and ended up on a ranch east of Colorado Springs. At sixteen and fully grown, he left the ranch to find his fortune, first as a gold miner, then again as a cowboy. He was forced to leave the ranch and became a gun fighter. While on a rail tour of Kansas cow towns, his future changed when he arrived in Dodge City. There he met a man named Wayfarer, who told him everything he had done in his life. He told CD the Lord had sent him to Dodge City to meet a new servant of the Lord named Sojourner. He was to train him to be a new Servant of the Lord to carry on His work in the new lands west of the Mississippi River. Over the next months CD came to faith in his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He was baptized by Wayfarer, who told him. 'CD no longer exists. You are now Sojourner and you serve the Lord.'
