Ce travail constitue une étude exploratoire et décrit la vision du monde des Ambaama relative à la cérémonie d’Okumbu. Travailler sur le rite Okumbu est un fait inédit, malgré le fait que les jeunes générations accordent peu d’importance aux rites traditionnels. Cette étude aide à la sauvegarde du lexique du rite qui n’est plus pratiqué couramment. L’intérêt de cette recherche est de faire revivre une tradition de plus en plus menacée. Ses us et coutumes diffèrent d’une communauté à une autre, surtout quand il s’agit de préparer l’enfant à intégrer l’univers des vivants. Qu’est ce qui caractérise le Sociolecte des Atswi Okumbu chez les Ambaama du Haut-Ogooué ? Ce sociolecte est-il le même chez tous les pratiquants d’Okumbu ? Ce rite caractérise-t-il la vision du monde des Ambaama ? Telles sont les questions que nous nous posons dans cette recherche. Ainsi, pour répondre à ces interrogations, nous avons opté pour deux méthodes d’enquête pour élucider notre terrain : le questionnaire et l’interview interactive.
