The work of Iete Rodrigues Reis is not only the fruit of a master’s degree research and, therefore, of systematic studies based on the scientific principles of the social sciences, on which the author bases her training. It is also born out of a long practice as an educator, from classrooms in the public school system in the state of São Paulo to educational management activities. Both were developed with the commitment of someone who has embraced education as a way of being and living. As an essential condition for humanisation and social emancipation, especially in regions and continents where inequalities are based on basic injustice defined by unequal conditions of access and permanence at school. The architecture of this book draws attention to the theoretical and methodological coherence that the researcher uses, interweaving the testimonies of the actors in the experience studied with historiographical and sociological interpretations of the period in question and her own life story. Prof Dr Dóris Accioly e Silva.
