Esta investigación busca contribuir a la solución de la problemática habitacional rural en Colombia mediante la implementación de un sistema arquitectónico que permita un montaje sencillo de estructuras con bambú (Bambusa Vulgaris), aptas para una vivienda rural. Esta alternativa facilitaría la adquisición de vivienda por pare de los campesinos, propiciando que las mismas comunidades sean las gestoras de su propia vivienda por medio de su participación en el proceso constructivo de la misma. Además, la implementación de este sistema arquitectónico permitiría la configuración de diferentes prototipos de vivienda con base en una misma cantidad de elementos estructurales de acuerdo a las necesidades de cada habitante, generando de esta manera un modelo de construcción que proporcione mayores beneficios como reducción de costos de la vivienda, facilidad de montaje, flexibilidad en el diseño, menor tiempo de construcción, participación de comunidades etc.
