This 1838 edition, translated by the Scottish poet William Stewart Rose, tells the story of the eponymous hero, a knight who travels to the Middle East to fight against Saracen armies and rescue his lady love, Josian. Along the way, Sir Beves battles monsters, navigates treacherous political alliances, and ultimately triumphs over his enemies. This edition includes detailed notes and an introduction that contextualizes the romance within the broader literary and historical traditions of medieval Europe.This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
