A turbina é o componente mais crítico nas centrais hidroelétricas, pois afeta o custo e o desempenho geral da central. Portanto, para o projeto econômico de qualquer projeto hidroelétrico, é muito importante prever o comportamento hidráulico e a eficiência das turbinas hidráulicas antes de serem utilizadas. A abordagem experimental para prever o desempenho da turbina hidráulica é dispendiosa e demorada em comparação com a abordagem CFD. Este trabalho de investigação descreve as condições de fluxo de fluidos e os parâmetros de fluxo dentro de uma turbina radial em relação a cada parte da turbina. As condições de fluxo de fluidos e as características de fluxo dentro da turbina são obtidas por simulação de Dinâmica de Fluidos Computacional (CFD) com a ajuda do software ANSYS. O comportamento do fluxo é observado dentro da turbina em diferentes ângulos das pás guia e a eficiência hidráulica máxima é obtida para todos os casos, sendo feita uma comparação entre a eficiência teórica e experimental (CFD). Para todos os diferentes ângulos das pás guia, as curvas características são verificadas. Para cada caso, a velocidade de entrada é alterada em sequência para 10 m/s, 7 m/s e 4 m/s. A simulação CFD é feita com o modelo K-ω(SST) e o algoritmo SIMPLEC.
