'Silly Papa' is the story of the author since his childhood years, his shady way of life that led him to several years of imprisonment. Jamil Couzens grew up in a tough environment that instilled in him the characteristics that defined him for the rest of his life. With the influence of the surroundings and his peers, Jamil started to develop bad habits, from drinking beer to smoking weed at a young age. His use of stronger alcoholic drink and more potent drugs was his attempt ease his feelings of pain and isolation. After having fathered a child by one girlfriend, Jamil got married to another, at an early age- a relationship that soon suffered with the arrival of his second child. Fearing his responsibilities, and with his life spiraling out of control, Jamil left Dayton for Los Angeles hoping to find a better life. Jamil, however, further sunk into the shady way of living, doing various crimes from robbery and car theft to drug dealing. His illegal activities sent him to prison five times. It was during his final stay that he was inspired by religious study, which brought light in his life. After spending the past fifteen years of his life in uncertainty, Jamil decided to make things right and reconnect with his daughters. Once re-established as a aerospace machinist and after making new friends. Jamil ends his, almkost 20 years, estrangement with his daughters, and meets his grandchildren for the first time, which brought immense joy to his heart. He gets another chance at love with Jackie and eventually is regarded as Silly Papa.
