The patterns of God are recurring biblical ways in which He reveals His character, accomplishes His purposes, and works through His people. They are not formulas, rituals, or separate practices that can be mixed together to produce a desired supernatural result. We cannot control God by repeating certain words, actions, numbers, movements, or methods. God remains sovereign, and the Holy Spirit distributes and works according to His own will.Although God’s character and truth never change, His methods may vary. Jesus healed one person with a spoken word, another through touch, and another by placing clay on his eyes. The method was different, but the source was always God. Therefore, biblical patterns help us recognize God’s principles - such as faith, obedience, covenant, holiness, prayer, worship, compassion, surrender, and dependence upon the Holy Spirit - without turning them into religious techniques. The purpose of studying God’s patterns is to understand His ways, align ourselves with His Word, discern what the Holy Spirit is doing, and respond in faithful obedience. Every genuine pattern must agree with Scripture, reflect God’s holy character, exalt Jesus Christ, produce righteous fruit, and bring glory to God. We follow the God who revealed the pattern - not the pattern as though it possesses power within itself.
