Shelter in the Shepherd

Shelter in the Shepherd: The Psalm 23 Experience for Peace in a Busy World invites readers to move beyond simply reciting Psalm 23 and begin living within its promises.Through the memorable SHELTER framework-Shepherd, Help, Ewe, Live, Trust, Eat, and Rest-Dr. BeverlyAnn transforms the familiar words of Psalm 23 into practical guidance for everyday life. Drawing from biblical teaching, shepherding imagery, personal reflection, and pastoral encouragement, she helps readers understand what it means to know God as the Good Shepherd in seasons of change, uncertainty, weariness, grief, fear, and spiritual hunger. Many people know the words 'The Lord is my shepherd,' yet still struggle to experience peace in a busy and demanding world. Shelter in the Shepherd connects the ancient world of sheep and shepherds with the modern realities of work, family responsibilities, relationships, loss, major transitions, and the constant pressure to keep moving. Readers are invited to slow down, listen for the Shepherd’s voice, and recognize the ways God provides direction, protection, nourishment, restoration, and rest. Each chapter explores a different aspect of the shepherd-sheep relationship and applies it to the reader’s spiritual journey. Readers will discover why sheep need a shepherd, how the shepherd responds when the flock is vulnerable, what it means to trust God’s leading, and how spiritual nourishment and true rest are found in His presence. The book also explains biblical shepherding practices in clear, accessible language, making Psalm 23 more understandable and meaningful for readers who may have little familiarity with rural life.Readers will learn how the Good Shepherd offers guidance when the path is unclear, help when life feels overwhelming, protection in uncertain places, provision during seasons of need, and rest for an anxious or exhausted soul. Thoughtful questions and practical insights encourage readers not only to study Scripture but also to reflect on their own lives and respond with greater faith, trust, and spiritual confidence.Shelter in the Shepherd is ideal for personal devotion, Christian living, Bible study, small groups, women’s ministry, church discussion, or anyone seeking peace, hope, spiritual growth, and a deeper relationship with God. It is especially meaningful for readers navigating grief, divorce, caregiving, career changes, empty-nest seasons, emotional fatigue, or other life transitions.More than a study of Psalm 23, this book is an invitation to experience the care of the Good Shepherd-to follow His lead, trust His provision, receive His peace, and find shelter for the soul.
