Vanessa was born on the small Caribbean island of Nevis in the early 1950’s on the 18th August. When her parents left for England, she was placed in the care of her grandmother, and she attended the then Charlestown Girls School and St Paul’s Anglican Church.1961, Vanessa travelled by sea for 2 weeks with a guardian to England, where she rejoined her parents Bertram and Sylvia Roach and her two siblings. This book tells the story of her journey to the UK and her childhood in Sale, Cheshire, where she attended Glebelands Road Primary School, the Ashton-on-Mersey Secondary School for Girls, and the then North Cheshire College of Further Education. It also tells the story of how a bond is formed between families of separated members. This is Vanessa’s first book, and it began as a journal about her journey to England and childhood. Where this book ends, Vanessa returned to Nevis in the mid-1970s and pursued her chosen career in the hospitality industry. After a few trips between the UK and Nevis, she eventually married Wellington Paris in December 1984, and they brought up their three daughters Chantàl, Falon, and Ashlee.Vanessa also enjoys writing poetry, and you will find a few of her poems in this book.
