Während vor 20 Jahren noch kaum über dieses Thema gesprochen wurde, so ist es heutzutage in den Medien oder in zahlreichen Sorgerechtsakten und Strafanzeigen omnipräsent.Obwohl seit einiger Zeit Präventionsmassnahmen wie Aufklärungskampagnen eingesetzt werden, liegt die Zahl der sexuell missbrauchten Kindern in der Schweiz pro Jahr immer noch bei 45’000.In einem ersten Teil wird versucht „sexueller Missbrauch' zu definieren und es werden verschiedene Formen aufgezeigt. Bevor auf die Bewältigungsstrategien eingegangen wird, werden Folgen sexuellen Missbrauchs aufgezeigt. Hierbei wird auf geschlechtsspezifische Unterschiede eingegangen.
