This is a story of a man who awakens from the lethargy of a world that has been lulled asleep by the promises of sensual pleasures and other lies. He hears a call but is afraid to respond, afraid of what may be asked of him. He sees the misery, the pain and the suffering of others but knows that he is to weak and flawed to do anything. The call comes again and he struggles with conflicting emotions but finally accepts and gives his life for others.

The collection arcs from, at one extreme, the parsimonies of the household, to the transce...
