In this working paper, we sought to analyze vicarious violence, which is scientifically defined as a form of gender-based violence of an instrumental and relational nature, characterized by the use of third parties (predominantly sons and daughters) as intermediaries to inflict chronic and irreversible psychological harm on women, Vaccaro, 2017; from the perspective of forensic psychology and victimology, this phenomenon represents one of the most severe manifestations of coercive control, in which the perpetrator shifts the focus of direct attacks toward the victim’s most significant emotional bonds.
