A secagem é uma operação essencial em indústrias química, agrícola, biotecnologia, polímeros, cerâmicas, farmacêutica, processamento mineral e madeira. Esse livro apresenta uma metodologia para análise de secagem de arroz em casca em leito fluidizado, por meio da primeira e da segunda leis da termodinâmica. O modelo foi desenvolvido tendo como base os conceitos e equações de transferência de massa e calor. A solução numérica foi realizada utilizando o software Mathcad e envolveu o método de integração numérica de Runge-Kutta Fehlberg. Um estudo paramétrico foi realizado para alguns valores de velocidade do ar e a altura do leito. Os resultados incluem curvas do teor médio de água dos grãos e da temperatura do ar de saída, umidade de equilíbrio nas condições de secagem em relação à umidade relativa, dados da disponibilidade do ar e de eficiências de primeira e de segunda leis da termodinâmica, ao longo do período de secagem. 10
