Clarissa Abbot is a young minister who has gotten her first full-time position as pastor at Shore Side Community Church in Shore Side, New Jersey. As if having her new job is not challenging enough, she had a further problem when a member of her congregation dies in the hospital under suspicious circumstances before he could pass along information about a past crime. Feeling guilty because she could not convince the man to confide in her before his death, Clarissa begins her own investigation, which leads back to an unsolved murder that happened in Shore Side over fifty years ago. In addition, a shady real estate deal involving the church brings her into contact with a handsome young lawyer in her congregation, whose interest in her is more than professional. All of this leads Clarissa to discover that being a minister is more complicated and more dangerous than she had ever expected.
