Out of a love for children the author was inspired to write a story about her beloved dog Ollie and the neighborhood children he played with. 'Schaeffer & Ollie - Hoodscapades' and 'Schaeffer & Ollie - Meet the Gang' are stories derived from her experiences growing up. The books capture many adventures between a little boy, visiting his grandparents for the summer in their neighborhood, and his dog Ollie. This first book in the series captures his arrival and exploits as he and his dog Ollie take on the neighborhood.
