Domanovic je, kroz alegorijske slike i ironicne opaske, pokazao pesimisticnu viziju stvarnosti, nezadovoljan apsolutistickom vlascu Obrenovica, ali i onom koja je usledila posle Majskog prevrata. Njegove satire govore o univerzalnim temama, kao sto su korupcija, nasilje, nepravda, cak i ropska poslusnost gradjanstva, cime je zasluzeno stekao status jednog od nezaobilaznih domacih knjizevnih klasika.
