''Samson and Delilah'' is an opera in three acts composed by French composer Camille Saint-Saens in 1895. The opera is based on the Biblical story of Samson and Delilah from the Book of Judges. The story revolves around the powerful Samson, who is known for his strength and his love for the beautiful Philistine woman, Delilah. Delilah, who is working for the Philistine rulers, tries to discover the secret of Samson’s strength and ultimately succeeds in betraying him to the Philistines. The opera is a dramatic portrayal of the conflict between love and betrayal, faith and temptation, and the ultimate triumph of good over evil. The music is characterized by Saint-Saens’ use of exotic and oriental themes, as well as his incorporation of traditional Jewish melodies. ''Samson and Delilah'' remains one of Saint-Saens’ most popular and enduring works, and is frequently performed in opera houses around the world.This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
