Very loosely based on Lukes’ Gospel, 'Salvation Mountain: poses the question: What if Jesus’ second coming were a Latina woman? The narrative weaves together the following themes: three female generation; immigration; and angels.Women: Grandmother Gabriella, an indigenous woman managing a growing family; Mother Maria, raped, pregnant with Jessica and a disgrace to her family. And Daughter Jessica, a nurse who might represent Jesus Second Coming.Every immigrant has a different story be it a plane ride to L.A. or death in the desert. Jessica’s journey had some issues but with English fluency and some money, she and enjoyed relatively easy travel.Divine intervention: Angels were there when needed. We are left with the question: Do we find strength and wisdom within ourselves? Or were our behavior and ideas something that just hit us from the outside? Was Jessica’s journey a singularity of blood and love or a miracle of wit, valor and luck.
