You’ll find that Salacious is relatable, even if you don’t agree with it all you’ll set your own opinions and I am not afraid to raise discussion. There is a portion of humour and rawness which enables my writing to be relatively light hearted. Where there is humour also lies a dark side that portrays elements of situations that have taken place. I honestly believe I give a great understanding of a real woman. I have nothing to hide, and I’m never one to shy away from speaking about sex. Yes, it maybe controversial but I refuse to conform. Personally I think women are becoming more neurotic and forget to embrace the power of their sex. Salacious is a journey that represents love and sex, friendships in all their forms. The relationships worth the fight, friendships that help you grow and the big confusion between love and being in love.As it’s poetry it has a unique essence that produces a short story in each poem. It’s honest and embodies the most monumental and insignificant chapter’s in my life. I draw from not only my own but my closest people’s experiences. It allows the truth to be powerful, which in turn has a remarkable way of touching you, the reader.

  • Polishing the Silver
    Jennifer Chrystie
‘There’s a touch of both Dickinson and Larkin in Jennifer Chrystie’s mature exhumation of the tales and tropes of family. Figures who could so easily flit like phantoms in her well honed poetry are palpably enjoying an after-life in the poet’s ability to redeem through deep understanding. The collection arcs from, at one extreme, the parsimonies of the household, to the transce...

    Edward V Bonner
The very title of Edward V. Bonner's first volume of poetry, One Kiss (Ingram, 2015), suggests some ways in which the poems inside balance the universal with the particular. Most of the poems examine the themes of beauty and risk, pleasure and danger, in the context of one of three kinds of relationships: to romantic partners, to the spiritual world, and to the world of nature....

In his interpretation of Antigone, Seamus Heaney says, ‘Nobody can be sure they are always right.’ Maureen O’Shaughnessy’s The Truth about A further attends to this idea through various readings of the myth as portrayed by Sophocles, Brecht, Ted Hughes, Anne Carson and, most particularly, Euripides.
