Have you ever been the person waiting for the doctor's office to call and give you the results of a recent biopsy? Maybe you were waiting with someone dear to you, your mother, a beloved aunt, your sister, a niece, or even your best friend. Those hours and days of waiting can fill even the most calm and stoic person with a sense of dread. And then the results from the pathology report finally come in. You get a phone call from the doctor's office or a nurse calls and says the doctor wants you to come in. Your heart is pounding, your mouth becomes completely dry, and every nerve cell is on edge with anxiety. And then you hear the words, 'I'm sorry, but the news is not good. You have cancer. The tumor is malignant and is growing fast. We want to schedule you for surgery as soon as possible.' If any of you reading these words are honest with ourselves, when we first hear the words, 'You have cancer,' we see it as a death sentence. Our mind begins to suddenly flash through our family history like a computer retrieving stored files. We see images of all the people who we've known, and lost. A mother, an aunt, a sister, two cousins, and yes, a coworker who lost her battle to breast cancer just last year. These images flood us with a sense of fear and hopelessness. But it doesn't have to be that way for a believer in Jesus Christ. In Jesus's own words, He said, 'The thief comes to steal, kill, and destroy, but I have come that you might have life, and have it more abundantly' (John 10:10). This memoir will give some of you a roadmap for hope, but it will certainly be a road less traveled. The roadmap is based on the divinely inspired Word of God. That is the starting point for the race you are about to begin. It will also share one woman's courageous journey through multiple bouts with breast cancer, her faith in God's plan, and her eternal hope. The Goal: A radical change in diet, based on God's eating plan for His children from the very beginning, and the courage to resist the medical profession's plan for us. Let's begin the journey. 3
