Although a book on steam tractors from by gone days this book is a fascinating work for anyone interested in antique engines. Rough and Tumble Engineering: Book of Instructions for Operators of Farm and Traction Engines is not a scientific work. It is intended for the farmer who uses his machine for various jobs. The author has lived this life and hopes that after reading his book the reader will be able to service his machine. This knowledge combined with common sense and practice will make the reader a better engineer. The author uses plain language and explanations to aid the reader. The author will not teach the reader how to build an engine, but will teach them how to maintain it. The sections in this book are well labeled and the advice on a specific topic can be easily found.
