Este trabalho traz discussões sobre a teoria das marés e sistemas binários, confrontando idéias de Zahn, Tassoul e outros cientistas da área. Dispomos de dados de períodos, excentricidades e velocidade de rotação para estrelas O, B, A, F, G e K de classe de luminosidade V, IV e III. Nosso objetivo principal é explicar como as estrelas binárias atingiram o equilíbrio, ou seja, sincronização - velocidade de rotação (Ω) igual à velocidade angular orbital (ω), circularização - excentricidade orbital zero e todos os giros, orbital e rotacional, alinhados.
