Gingival recession is the exposure of the root surface resulting from the apical migration of the marginal tissue margin. Its etiology is considered multifactorial, involving both triggering and predisposing factors. Covering these exposed roots remains a major therapeutic challenge given patients’ aesthetic and functional demands. In recent decades, several surgical techniques have been developed. However, according to systematic reviews and meta-analyses, the buried connective tissue graft technique appears to offer the best results in terms of root coverage and long-term stability.
