Cet ouvrage collectif, rédigé par des de chercheurs et d’artistes sous la direction de deux spécialistes de la littérature franco-ontarienne, vient restituer le parcours personnel de Robert Dickson et rendre compte de son œuvre littéraire.Anglophone d’origine, Dickson adopte la culture francophone dès les années 1960. Grand mentor du milieu littéraire, il dépiste et accompagne de nombreux auteurs et joue un rôle crucial dans l’essor des Éditions Prise de parole jusqu’à son décès en 2007. Le poète Dickson laisse une œuvre marquante, originale, qui intéressera trop peu une critique plus portée à parler de l’homme et de sa contribution au milieu qu’à recenser et analyser ses écrits. Le présent ouvrage vient pallier cette lacune. L’ouvrage se penche également sur son œuvre de traducteur : on lui doit des traductions vers le français, dont Champion et Ooneemeetoo, de Tomson Highway, mais aussi vers l’anglais ; il est le premier, notamment, à traduire Jean Marc Dalpé dans cette langue. Sa contribution méconnue au cinéma, que ce soit à titre de comédien, de scénariste, de personnage, de narrateur, de sous-titreur, est ici enfin recensée.Avec des textes de Louis Bélanger, Jean Marc Dalpé, Emir Delic, Lucie Hotte, Jean Marc Larivière, Catherine Leclerc, Élise Lepage, Johanne Melançon et Claudine Moïse.
