Grievechronic is a symphony of sorts. An opus whose songs began erupting out of me in 2020 in earnest. It was not the last time. But it turns out it was also not the first.By the time she was seven years old, little kid me had written over 500 songs in notebooks to soundtrack the movies, musicals and tv shows that she produced all over her house and the homes of her neighborhood friends (whose dolls used to audition to be part of the spectaculars her 'movie Studio' was known for).Perhaps it was an outlet for the chaos a child consumed against her will at home. Or just the natural response to the discipline of waking up at 528am every Saturday (and sometimes Sunday) to devour Kids Incorporated the way other kids went to church. Whatever the cause, the flood of songs out of me was just as fun in every season it has ever showed up. There is music to these wild hymns and sublime dirges. One day, I’ll create it. Note by note. Just like I did this. What amazing times we live in that I can say that seriously. But for now? The songs are being catalogued for the characters of the Grievechronic Universe (so that part’s out of the way) and for any others to sing, as the lyrics ask them to be sung once they take the words in. There are recordings of how they’re meant to be sung according to me. But there’s not as much fun in that . My curiosity currently is in what the words feel like conjuring up as they are coming in and then out of all of you. Bold ask, but one of the best parts of grievechronic is how prismatically the heart of it interacts so differently with all of you.Yall’s interplay is epic, insane and inspiring. So let’s see how that translates to singing Artyo and company’s songs. Let’s see if they’re whispering to you sonically on the same channel they are warbling to me.So... Have at it. & Hit me up with your results. Online & otherwise, over at grievechronic.comBest,Angel Brynner.
