Il Compressive Sensing (CS) è la soluzione o il metodo chiave per ricostruire il segnale con un numero di misure molto ridotto rispetto ai metodi convenzionali. Secondo i metodi convenzionali o, per meglio dire, la teoria del campionamento di Shannon-Nyquist, per una corretta ricostruzione del segnale è necessario il doppio della larghezza di banda del segnale . Il problema fondamentale è quello di memorizzare una grande quantità di dati con il metodo convenzionale. A tal fine è necessaria la matrice di misura, che deve essere una matrice di misura stabile, e la matrice di base. La matrice di misura e la matrice base devono soddisfare due proprietà: RIP e iid. La matrice di misura, che in genere è una matrice casuale, è ottimizzata per ottenere una minore coerenza reciproca. Esistono vari algoritmi di ricostruzione che vengono utilizzati per la corretta ricostruzione del segnale dopo le compressioni.
