First-time author, Joe L. Francis, Sr., is a natural-born storyteller. Growing up, Joe and his siblings knew virtually nothing about their father’s family. When they asked they always received the same answer: 'They’re dead.' At the time, Joe and his siblings accepted that as their legacy, but years later Joe and his brother, Thomas, decided they wanted to leave more for their descendants. In 2002, Joe wrote his personal memoirs for his family. As he was finishing up his personal story, Joe and Thomas decided to search for their paternal grandparents graves. They found the graves, as well as some answers to the family secret. Those answers gave them the opportunity to dig deeper into their family roots. This book is a product of that search for answers to mysteries dating back to the Revolutionary War when Joe’s 4th great-grandfather died in the Battle of Shallow Ford in North Carolina. The story follows the generations from Virginia to early day Kentucky to Missouri and Arkansas and eventually to Texas. Along the way clues were discovered that unlocked one mystery after another, and, like all great stories, their tale also leaves unanswered questions. The Francis family has a rich history with many honorable descendants. Over 7,000 descendants of Captain Henry Francis who died in the Revolutionary War are listed in the descendants listing. Revolution to Revelation: Captain Henry Francis and Descendants, 1733-2013 is a treasure for all Francis descendants and an interesting read for anyone interested in every day life in America. A perfect combination of genealogy, personal history and storytelling, Revolution to Revelation is an engaging read for anyone in search of the stories that make-up the tapestry that is and was American life.
