La stampa 3D o produzione additiva indica il processo di creazione di oggetti solidi aggiungendo materiale a strati. FMD (Fused Deposition Modeling) è il processo che consiste nel spingere un filamento, riscaldato fino al suo punto di fusione ed estruso in un flusso sottile strato dopo strato, per creare un oggetto tridimensionale. Quasi tutte le stampanti 3D desktop sono stampanti FDM. La sinterizzazione laser selettiva (SLS) e la stereolitografia (SLA) sono altri metodi molto utilizzati per la stampa 3D. Immaginate di poter creare qualsiasi cosa, dalle tazze da caffè agli organi umani, con un’unica tecnologia. La stampa 3D ha il potenziale per migliorare la vita delle persone sotto ogni aspetto.
