Frank James had been fighting a losing battle against drugs for years. His drug abuse had cost him his career, his family, his one true love and his self respect. It seemed that all hope was lost. However, one fateful night on a beach in south Florida, Frank was involved in a drug deal that went awry. The events that occurred that night inspired him to turn his life around. Against seemingly insurmountable odds, Frank returned home to Tennessee to begin the rigorous healing process. After an intensive inpatient stay at a renowned drug rehabilitation center, six months at a half way house in Nashville, countless self-help meetings and the care and devotion of a no-nonsense Alcoholics Anonymous sponsor, Frank James seemed to be well on his way to a full recovery.Less than a month away from having three years clean, Frank had regained his family’s support, his self esteem was at an all time high and he was about to put his career back on track with the opening of his own business. The only thing left was to reunite with the love of his life, Tina Gardner. Frank set his sights to do just that.Unfortunately, into every man’s life a little rain must fall. In Frank’s case, it began to pour down on him as if someone unlocked the gates of Hell. A vicious killer reared his ugly head in and around Knoxville, Tennessee, leaving a trail of dead bodies in his wake. At the scene of each crime, the ruthless killer leaves behind a clue that shows a direct link between Frank and the victim. Each victim turns out to be someone from Frank’s past and he becomes a target for the ignorant County Sheriff’s Investigator in charge of the case.Detective Benny Robbins also has had run-ins with Mr. James and has made it a personal vendetta to destroy his life. Fortunately for Frank, Agent Sandy Borden of the FBI is brought in to assist Robbins, becoming the one man interested in the truth and getting Frank a fair shake. With the death count continuing to rise, it becomes clear that no one with any ties to Frank, whatsoever, is safe. As the investigation progresses, James is forced to deal with demons from his past that threaten his sobriety, his serenity, his sanity and the lives of himself and everyone around him.All of this leading to discovering the truth behind what happened on that beach several years ago and who, at the end of this ordeal, will remain to tell about it another day.

Stuart Evans’s first novel is a comedy-of-ill-manners set in a nouveau riche milieu: a fantastic satirical performance and hyper-referential homage to masters past and present. Paul Keller is the Stephen Dedalus of the piece, the son of Robert and Sylvie, whose internal monologue is spliced into the action, and whose incestuous feelings for his sister lead to an increase in his...
