Desde la segunda mitad del siglo XIV, Valencia inicia un progresivo ascenso social y económico que se plasmó artísticamente en la llegada de maestros pintores de diferentes procedencias, lo que dio lugar a la realización de obras de arte de gran calidad en un ambiente muy favorable. Es el inicio y punto de referencia del llamado Siglo de Oro valenciano. Este libro se centra en el análisis del período del gótico internacional en Valencia desde una amplia perspectiva y estudia la aparición y la trayectoria de cada uno de los grandes pintores o los patronos que consolidaron a Valencia como un importante foco del gótico internacional en el Mediterráneo. Además de la originalidad del enfoque utilizado, las novedades documentales son una de las claves del libro, ya que arrojan una luz mayor y abren caminos para descifrar el complejo panorama artístico de la Valencia de 1400.
