A África Negra sofre da reputação de ser anti-histórica. Como o património histórico é essencialmente transmitido oralmente, muitos dos acontecimentos passados de África parecem ter sido esquecidos. Este livro é uma tentativa de recordar um vestígio do passado de um povo da África Central, o povo Bira, que vive no leste da República Democrática do Congo, na Província de Ituri, no Território de Irumu. Esta panorâmica histórica do povo Bira traça o seu percurso migratório até à sua fixação no território que atualmente ocupa. Conta também a história do encontro do explorador Stanley com este povo. Apresenta também a evolução sócio-cultural deste povo. Mostrando algumas das forças outrora escondidas deste povo, as suas ramificações étnicas, a sua resiliência pacífica historicamente comprovada, etc., este livro tem como objetivo ajudar o povo Bira a melhorar ainda mais e a desenvolver uma fraternidade ultra-tribal com vista ao desenvolvimento de uma paz duradoura na região.
