Para Tertuliano, a ligação entre Criação e escatologia é a afirmação-chave da Revelação e, consequentemente, um dos pontos mais insistentes na luta teológica da fé. De resurrectione carnis (ou De resurrectione mortuorum), 'uma obra-prima única na história da teologia' (Jérôme Alexandre), foi uma resposta eficaz a Marcião e aos seus seguidores.O que desafia a sabedoria dos homens e, por isso, é apenas uma questão de fé, é o ato inaudito de Deus ao criar a carne, a 'loucura' deste Deus que aceita encarnar-se e morrer numa cruz e, finalmente, o amor insensato que tem pelo homem ao ponto de ressuscitar a sua carne.
