La resilienza è un argomento che è stato studiato nel corso degli anni e si concentra sulla capacità di riprendersi rapidamente dalle difficoltà. Negli ultimi 15 anni è cresciuto l’interesse per la resilienza e il suo impatto sugli adolescenti cresciuti nel sistema di affidamento. Questo si accompagna al fatto che gli adolescenti cresciuti nel sistema di affidamento hanno una maggiore probabilità di raggiungere livelli di istruzione inferiori ai requisiti minimi. La resilienza e il successo scolastico sono stati esaminati all’interno di un gruppo di affidatari che non era mai stato studiato prima in letteratura. Il gruppo esaminato era costituito da adolescenti bermudiani affidati al sistema scolastico pubblico e dalla loro prospettiva su quanto fossero resilienti e su come questo potesse influenzare le loro capacità di lettura e matematica. I risultati hanno rivelato una relazione positiva tra resilienza e lettura.
