DSTL Arts, in partnership with other Los Angeles-based organizations, partners to provide one-time and ongoing Artist Residency Workshops in various media. The Artist Residency Workshop series responsible for this publication offered creative writing workshops called Remembering the Riots with the support of the Los Angeles Public Library-Exposition Park Regional Branch. This series examined the effects the 1992 Los Angeles Riots had on our local community, and ultimately attempted to answer the question: How much has really changed in LA?Gathered here are the stories, poetry, images, and voice of the community that lived through 6 days of looting, heartache, violence, and ultimately, unity against injustice. All sales from this book will benefit DSTL Arts’ arts-based programs for at-risk youth and adults.
