Este trabalho tem como objetivo fazer um estudo analítico das relações entre a Índia e os EUA entre 2000 e 2008. Com o fim da guerra fria e as subsequentes reformas económicas da Índia, a natureza das relações entre a Índia e os Estados Unidos passou de um afastamento para um compromisso. Os dois países iniciaram a cooperação nuclear, uma questão que os mantinha afastados. Com a assinatura do acordo nuclear, o estatuto de potência nuclear da Índia foi indiretamente reconhecido e a Índia tornou-se o único país fora dos signatários do TNP que pode comercializar material nuclear. A proximidade começou no domínio económico, quando a Índia abriu a sua economia ao mundo exterior e penetrou noutros domínios. Atualmente, a Índia e os EUA consideram-se aliados naturais. O trabalho procura explorar esta transformação nas relações entre a Índia e os EUA.
