O estudo centrou-se principalmente na relação entre a Índia e os Estados Unidos durante o período de Manmohan Singh e Barak Obama (2009-2014). O ano de 2009 é um marco importante na história das relações entre a Índia e os Estados Unidos, uma vez que o Dr. Manmohan Singh foi eleito Primeiro-Ministro da Índia para o seu segundo mandato e o líder democrático Barak Obama tornou-se Presidente dos EUA. O estudo centra-se nos aspectos analíticos e técnicos do estudo das relações entre a Índia e os EUA até 26 de maio de 2014.
