Utilizzando dati reali del comune brasiliano di Guaratinguetá - SP, il libro fornisce esempi dei miglioramenti necessari nella gestione dei rifiuti solidi, seguendo le linee guida della Legge Federale n. 11.455/07 e della Legge Federale n. 12.305/10, che stabiliscono le norme sanitarie brasiliane e la politica nazionale sui rifiuti solidi urbani.
