Este livro defende que quase todo o registo geológico neoproterozóico e fanerozóico foi afetado de alguma forma pelo Dilúvio de Noé e pelas suas consequências. No entanto, o alastramento do fundo do mar, neste modelo proposto, é inferido como tendo começado no final do ano do Dilúvio real, sendo possibilitado pelas águas recuadas do Dilúvio. As descrições das formações em regiões-chave foram correlacionadas em ordem estratigráfica com as fases históricas evidentes a partir do registo no livro do Génesis. Isto permitiu o desenvolvimento de um novo modelo bíblico de história geológica da Terra jovem, incluindo as fases de recuo das águas e de secagem do Ano do Dilúvio. É notável que a desagregação continental inicial tenha começado no Triássico e que isso tenha coincidido com uma época de grande baixa do nível do mar e de secagem continental generalizada. O recuo da água do mar introduzido no topo do manto através das zonas fragmentadas pelas fontes do Dilúvio reduziria drasticamente a temperatura de fusão e a viscosidade dos silicatos do manto, o que teria levado à rutura dos supercontinentes e à propagação dos fundos marinhos no Mesozoico e no Cenozoico.
