Jest czas narodzin i jest też czas śmierci. Uczymy się liczyć miesiące ciąży i wyznaczać dzień porodu. Ale kiedy nauczymy się rozpoznawać moment śmierci? Nasze ciało wie. I nie chce pozostać po czasie. Żal mu też gwiazd, które świecą bez odpoczynku... Myślę, że właśnie to powiedziałoby życie, jako swoje ostatnie życzenie, gdyby żyjący je wysłuchali: niech koniec będzie spokojny jak zmierzch, niech będzie zdecydowany jak ostatni akord sonaty i niech wiadomo, że nadeszła chwila, kiedy spotyka się starą kochankę z radością tego, kto obejmuje nową dziewczynę... Niech lekarze i krewni, z miłości do piękna, pozwolą, by wiersz został wypowiedziany do końca. Proszę, nie kładźcie palca na ramieniu gramofonu... Czas umrzeć (Rubem Alves - 1994).
