A little girl named Dolly is living with her dad in a dilapidated old house.  Her dad is poor and out of work.  Dolly's clothes are tattered and worn.  Thus, the kids make fun of her and refer to her as "Ragdolly."  Dolly's mom had died two years ago, leaving just Dolly and her dad to contend with a very difficult life.  To top it all off, Dolly was born with a cleft palate, which doesn't make things any easier for this social misfit.  Unfortunately, her dad can't afford the surgery needed to repair Dolly's facial deformity.  Kids torment her at school.  Even the teacher, principal, and the janitor are rude and abrupt to her.  But Dolly's indomitable spirit of love conquers all, and eventually the tide changes.  Hate and ridicule for Dolly begin to morph into love for her.  The entire communtiy is swept off their feet and find themselves consumed with Ragdolly's love.  And to her surprise, Dolly receives her much-needed surgery, transforming her into a beautiful girl.  Now she's as beautiful on the outside as she is on the inside.  This heartwarming story will touch the lives of all readers.  For ages 8 and up.  Includes forewords by Alex Trebek and Robert Wagner.
