Desde un punto de vista marxista podemos decir que se trata del mayor acontecimiento de la historia de la humanidad, ya que fue la primera vez que las clases oprimidas de la sociedad la clase obrera en alianza con el campesinado pobre derribaron a las clases opresoras y tomaron el poder en sus manos para iniciar un modo totalmente nuevo de dirigir la sociedad, cuyo objetivo final era terminar con todo tipo de explotación y opresión para alcanzar una sociedad sin clases, una sociedad socialista.Sin embargo, la Revolución Rusa tiene una significación que va más allá de un suceso particular ocurrido en un país gigantesco de 150 millones de habitantes, como era el imperio ruso. Tuvo un impacto mundial como no lo ha tenido ningún otro acontecimiento de la historia humana, superando las divisiones entre países, culturas, etnias y religiones, para unir a las clases oprimidas de todo el mundo en una lucha común por un mundo socialista, emancipado de las cadenas de la explotación y la opresión capitalista e imperialista. 10
