Os minerais de tungsténio são a ferberite, a hubnerite e a wolframite, que pertence ao grupo da wolframite. O objetivo desta investigação foi avaliar o potencial das rochas para albergar tungsténio. Estes minerais têm sido utilizados nas indústrias para a produção de ligas e armamento, carbonetos, ferramentas resistentes ao desgaste, eléctrodos de soldadura, joalharia, aparelhos eléctricos e ligas de metais pesados. O xisto e o granito com grandes intrusões de quartzito foram revelados como as principais litologias da área a partir de observações de trabalho de campo. A intrusão de quartzito alberga os minerais de tungsténio. O XRD revelou quatro fases minerais: quartzo, ferberite, magnetite e columbite. Os estudos petrográficos indicam a presença de quartzo na gama de 25 a 30% no xisto, 65 a 70% no granito, 60 a 90% nas litologias quartzíticas, por estimativa visual e 50 a 55% de biotite no xisto. A concentração de oligoelementos no quartzito mostra que W é 331371,85ppm contra Cv de 1ppm, indicando assim uma elevada mineralização de tungsténio na área. Recomenda-se, portanto, que os estudos SEM sejam incluídos em trabalhos futuros para decifrar a estrutura e a mineralogia do minério.
