A paraplegia é uma condição de vida em que não podemos mover o nosso corpo da anca para baixo. Ficamos presos a uma cadeira de rodas e toda a vida muda à nossa volta. Anteriormente, esta situação era considerada uma catástrofe, mas já não é. Hoje em dia, existem muitas instalações de reabilitação e, além disso, a percentagem da população afetada está sempre a aumentar. Mas ainda assim, quando examinamos a vida dos actuais paraplégicos, a qualidade de vida de que desfrutam é uma questão preocupante. Há muito a examinar sobre a sua capacidade funcional, a sua satisfação com a vida, etc. Este estudo tenta esclarecer estes aspectos. Inclui também uma revisão da literatura que pode ser útil para as pessoas interessadas no assunto.
