Al comenzar esta “defensa del Evangelio” necesitamos conocer bien lo que es el Evangelio, y por qué necesitamos defenderlo. El Apóstol Pablo creía que en su día era necesario defender el Evangelio. Él escribió:Como me es justo sentir esto de todos vosotros, por cuanto os tengo en el corazón; y en mis prisiones, y en la defensa y confirmación del evangelio, todos vosotros sois participantes conmigo de la gracia.Y otra vez escribió diciendo:Pero los otros por amor, sabiendo que estoy puesto para la defensa del evangelio.Para poder defender el Evangelio, necesitamos ser salvos personalmente, y conocer profundamente la doctrina de la salvación. Debemos ser bien enseñados y aprender en todo aspecto del Evangelio. Debemos ser expertos en el tema de lo que Dios hizo para salvar a nuestras almas, como también lo que el hombre debe hacer para ser salvo.Al estudiar la doctrina de la salvación, que es el significado de la palabra soteriología, debemos entender que un conocimiento de esta doctrina nos definirá cómo predicamos el Evangelio.
