Prudence Palfrey, And A River Mouth Romance is a novel written by Thomas Bailey Aldrich and first published in 1902. The story follows the life of Prudence Palfrey, a young woman living in a small New England town in the mid-19th century. Prudence is a strong-willed and independent woman who has a great desire for adventure and romance. She is not content with the traditional roles assigned to women in her society and yearns for something more. The novel is divided into two parts, with the first part focusing on Prudence’s life in her small town and her relationships with the people around her. She is courted by several men, but none of them seem to be the right fit for her. Prudence’s life changes when she meets a mysterious stranger named Philip Sterling, who has recently moved to the town. Philip is a charming and handsome man who quickly captures Prudence’s heart. However, their relationship is complicated by the fact that Philip is already engaged to another woman. In the second part of the novel, Prudence and Philip’s relationship is put to the test as they navigate the challenges of their love triangle. The story takes a dramatic turn when a storm hits the town and the river floods, putting the lives of many people in danger. Prudence and Philip work together to help those in need, and their experiences during the storm bring them closer together.Prudence Palfrey, And A River Mouth Romance is a classic romance novel that explores themes of love, independence, and societal expectations. It is a beautifully written story that captures the essence of life in a small New England town during the mid-19th century. The novel is a must-read for anyone who loves historical fiction and classic romance novels. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
