En la lucha contra la pobreza rural, los gobiernos generalmente ofrecen una batería de herramientas (programas o proyectos), que surgen desde diferentes entidades; algunas de estas intervenciones llegan simultáneamente a ciertos hogares. En este libro se explora la interacción entre dos tipos de instrumentos de política en particular, los de protección social, como las transferencias condicionadas, y los programas de desarrollo productivo, y se analizan las posibilidades de ocurrencia de sinergias que les permitan a los hogares rurales mejorar sus condiciones de vida de forma más rápida y eficiente. Para entender estas sinergias, se analiza la interacción entre estos dos tipos de programas en seis países de América Latina: Brasil, Colombia, Chile, El Salvador, México y Perú. 10
