Este estudo tenta exprimir plenamente as duas dimensões da subvenção pública, que incluem i) o facto de o governo pagar parcialmente bens/serviços tanto para os consumidores como para os produtores e ii) o facto de o governo renunciar a alguns impostos de empresas privadas para que estas possam utilizar os seus lucros extra no desenvolvimento social sem serem obrigadas. Mas, depois de examinar todas as considerações, este estudo revelou que os consumidores/produtores acabam por pagar mais a longo prazo sempre que recebem subsídios do governo sob a forma de redução de impostos e/ou redução de direitos aduaneiros. Revelou também outros efeitos do subsídio em diversas variáveis macroeconómicas, como o valor monetário, a inflação, o custo de transporte, etc. Acima de tudo, a conclusão geral deste estudo é que a subvenção pública só será eficaz se e só se existir um mercado livre e perfeito onde os recursos sejam distribuídos uniformemente, o que é raro em qualquer nação, especialmente na Nigéria.
