L’examen des événements historiques qui ont conduit à la différenciation des programmes d’économie domestique à travers les États-Unis offre un aperçu unique des raisons qui ont motivé le développement de chaque type. Cette typologie offre un point de vue différent sur ce qu’impliquaient les programmes d’économie domestique et définit ce domaine comme un programme d’études intentionnel et académique destiné aux femmes dans l’enseignement supérieur.
