O Serviço Nacional da Juventude (NYS) é um departamento do Ministério da Devolução. O programa de formação paramilitar de base expõe os recrutas a problemas psicossociais, o que justifica a necessidade de serviços de aconselhamento. A perceção dos recrutas, dos militares e dos oficiais sobre a eficácia do programa de orientação e aconselhamento determina a sua implementação e o seu sucesso no SJN. O estudo utilizou o modelo de investigação ex post facto. Os dados necessários foram recolhidos através de questionários. Foram utilizadas estatísticas descritivas e estatísticas inferenciais na análise dos dados do estudo. Os resultados do estudo revelaram que o programa de orientação e aconselhamento foi considerado positivo por todas as partes interessadas da NYS. Assim, o estudo recomendou que era necessário oferecer uma formação mais adequada aos conselheiros oficiais e disponibilizar os recursos adequados necessários para uma prestação de serviços eficaz.
